Destiny's Delights (Restaurant & Bakery)
Why Destiny's Delights:
The idea of a restaurant came about because we were made aware that some of the young people that we work with were doing illegal things to make money. They were not simply after money for the sake of having money. They NEEDED money to survive. Illegal activities were taking place because kids were hungry and needed money for school fees etc. We were approached by various people asking me for a way to help. Since I didn't have money to give, We had to come up with an alternative. We also believe that giving money isn't always the best answer. It's usually a temporary solution. We wanted to have a long term solution. We began teaching young people how to bake as a way to further build relationship with them and also to teach them a skill they could use to help themselves make money. We began baking cup cakes to sell in local shops around town and soon the idea of having our own restaurant was born. Part of our work in Cameroon is assisting with the care of vulnerable children, some of which are orphans. We provide medical care, school assistance, food and clothing for them as we are able. As the idea of a restaurant progressed we decided that profit from the restaurant could be used to help meet these needs. When you partner with us to help support the building of Destiny's Delights, you not only help with the "bricks and mortar" of a restaurant location. Your giving helps to keep young people off the streets, out of jail and enables them to have future. Your gifts go even further by providing much needed medical assistance and education to those who may not be able to afford it otherwise. Everyone we work with is shown the love of Jesus in a tangible way and taught who they are in Christ. |
